NYPD Red 2

NYPD Red 2
When NYPD Red arrives at a crime scene, everyone takes notice. Known as the protectors of the rich, famous, and connected, NYPD Red is the elite task force called in only for New York City's most high-profile crimes. And Detective Zach Jordan is the best of the best, a brilliant and relentless pursuer of justice. He puts professionalism above all, ignoring his feelings for his partner, Detective Kylie MacDonald, the woman who broke his heart when they first met in the academy.

But even with their top-notch training, Zach and Kylie aren't prepared for what they see when they're called to a crime scene in the heart of Central Park. They arrive to find a carousel spinning round and round, its painted horses grinning eerily in the early morning dark. There is only one rider: a brutally slaughtered woman, her body tied up and dressed in a Hazmat suit, on display for the world to see.

The victim, a woman of vast wealth and even greater connections, is the fourth in a string of shocking murders that have hit the city. As the public pressure mounts, and political and personal secrets of the highest order hang in the balance, Zach and Kylie must find out what's really behind the murderer's rampage. But Kylie has been acting strange recently--and Zach knows whatever she's hiding could threaten the biggest case of their careers.

NYPD Red 2 is the next outstanding novel in James Patterson's newest series, a thriller that careens through New York City and deep into the psyche of a depraved killer you've never seen before.

Very fast reading and attention holding. Liked the different story lines that will probably be weaving throughout this book.A rape and evidence destroyed out of fear for another family member. A plan put into place for revenge on the rapist.A funeral that resembles the style of a mafia family. As the police looks for the killer the family declares, during the funeral, “The family would make it’s own justice”. Could Mafia style revenge be in the works?A gang of kids beating up homeless people for the sport of it.A murder of what some called “the first lady of rich chicks”. “Rich, famous and connected”. NYPD Red takes the case. A special unit most officers would give their arm to be a part of. Another victim of what the media had dubbed the “Hazmat Killer”? Or was she killed by a copy cat to silence her because she was a high profile person running the campaign for the woman running against the present mayor? Or was she killed because of her past and what it seemed she had go…

I love James Patterson mysteries and detective novels. I read everything I can get my hands on. I think the preview should be released closer to the release date for the book. Too much time has passed and I will need to start over when the rest comes out….

The last Alex Cross books have really disappointed me and made me wonder if Patterson is writing too much. This book, while co-authored, restored some of my love for Patterson’s style and talent….

NYPD Red2 is a likable tale that seems well posed to be a summer beach read. Except that it’s just now spring, so take it on a long flight and it will get you where you’re going without making too many demands on your brain. The novel fits in well with the James Patterson genre, and author Marshall Karp should easily be back with another novel soon. One irritant with NYPD Red2 is the constant use of italics to jack up the action. It’s as if the author feels a need to remind the reader that “Hey, this is exciting here.” It does have excitement, but also some rather uncomplicated characters and a fairly straightforward plot.. It’s not great literature, but it was fun reading….

The concept of the NYPD Red series had me from the jump. NYPD Red is an elite police squad tasked with protecting New York’s rich, famous and productive. Detective Zach Jordan does not run Red, but he is the biggest and most effective cog of the very shiny investigative wheel that turns only when a high-profile crime has been committed. When one considers the locale in which Red operates, it turns fairly often. The second book in this fine series — fittingly, if somewhat unimaginatively, titled NYPD RED 2 — shows authors James Patterson and Marshall Karp at the top of their creative games, producing an exciting story that twists, turns and shines from first page to last. The meat of NYPD RED 2 begins with an unforgettable vignette. New York is under siege by a fiend dubbed by the media as the Hazmat Killer, due to his penchant for killing his victims and then displaying them rather publicly in Tyvek coveralls. Readers are introduced to the Hazmat Killer when his fourth victim is d…

Since Patterson has virtually stopped writing books and simply puts his imprimatur on the works of others (Karp in this instance) I have avoided picking up books with his name on it. However, in this instance, buying it was a good choice, The read is fast, with few lags in the action, to the point that I devoured this book in a couple of days. So, by all means buy it, even though it should say edited by JP, rather than written by….

James Patterson’s NYPD Red 2 was excellent.. I read NYPD Red and this one is better. The plot was intriguing and you never really know who was involved in the killings. Anyone who enjoys a good James Patterson’s book will really enjoy this one. The twists and turns make it one of the most important part of the book….
